H.Pylori Antigen Test

A stool antigen test (SAT) for Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) is a non-invasive test that checks for the presence of (H.pylori) bacteria in your stool. A positive result indicates that you have an (H.pylori) infection.

Key Details of H. Pylori Ag Rapid Test:

  • Purpose: Detects active H. pylori infections in stool, unlike antibody tests which may detect past infections.
  • Methodology: Uses monoclonal antibodies to detect antigens, producing a visible colored line on a test cassette.
  • Result Time: Results are typically available within 10–15 minutes.
  • Sample Requirement: A small, fresh stool sample is collected, often requiring a buffer solution for processing.
  • Accuracy & Limitations: While accurate, results should be confirmed by a doctor. False negatives can occur if patients have recently used PPIs, bismuth compounds, or antibiotics within the past 14 days.
  • Components: Kits usually contain a test device, sample dilution buffer, and a disposable sampler.
